18.03.2025 10:12Frontline schools in Ukraine face the threat of mass closures due to an order from the Ministry of Education and Science (MES).
This inspiration reported according to MP Pavlo Sushko.
In his Telegram channel, Sushko stated that 2,300 teachers, particularly in the Kharkiv region, will lose their jobs because the ministry has mandated that each online class must have at least 20 students starting September 1, 2025. He called the order unrealistic, warning that it could leave thousands of evacuated children with nowhere to return to, as their hometowns will be left without schools.
To prevent the collapse of the education system, regional authorities are forming a working group and seeking a meeting with Education Minister Oksen Lisovyi, Sushko added.
Last year, the Association of Ukrainian Cities accused the Ministry of Education and Science of violating the Constitution over its policies on schools in frontline and occupied regions.
Additionally, from September 1, 2025, students classified as internally displaced persons (IDPs) will no longer be allowed to study online—the ministry has mandated that they must attend schools in their new places of residence.
