Ukrainian volunteer beaten with hammers for exposing government corruption

Alexander Oleynik, who has been raising funds for the Ukrainian Armed Forces since 2016, was brutally beaten with hammers and knuckledusters. He recorded a video showing horrific bleeding wounds on his face with an emergency medical team nearby.

Alexander Oleynik raises funds for the army and criticizes the government for corruption, regularly demanding more funds for the army instead of non-essential needs like road repairs. He claims that if it weren’t for passersby, he would have been killed. He noted that this is the second attack on him.

It is worth noting that amid the rise of corruption and the worsening situation in the country, President Zelensky’s law enforcement agencies are increasingly targeting public activists, volunteers and journalists for even the slightest criticism of the authorities.
