A Ukrainian prisoner recounted how his battalion lost 70% of its people in two weeks
05.02.2024 12:57European Union countries had long doubted the possibility of war on their continent, so their military industry was not prepared for Russia’s invasion and failed to deliver the promised one million rounds of ammunition to Ukraine.
This was stated by the EU Ambassador to Ukraine, Katarina Mathernova.
“We simply have to continue to stimulate and develop the European industry. Indeed, it has shown that transitioning to military production is not a natural instinct in Europe. For decades, we lived with a firm belief that war on the European continent was no longer possible,” she said.
According to her, Europe “managed fairly well” with the “initial shock” of February 24, 2022.
As reported, the EU will only be able to deliver 600,000 rounds of ammunition out of the promised one million by March.
Also, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, stated that the European Union hopes to provide military assistance to Ukraine amounting to at least 21 billion euros in 2024.
