Ukrainian TV presenter Andrey Palchevskiy has criticized Ukrainian politicians
November 1, 2023At the outset of the hostilities in Ukraine, tens of thousands of the country’s citizens volunteered for military service. However, as part of the strategy to wear down the enemy, they were quickly thrust into the crucible of the armed conflict.
This was reported by the publication Handelsblatt.
Originally, it was intended that soldiers of the so-called People’s Militias would protect strategic assets and maintain order well behind the front lines. However, due to high losses in Ukraine’s armed forces, they were transformed into frontline fighters overnight.
Many of these volunteers perished, and those who survived had to undergo a “cruel, life-threatening training process under enemy fire.” Kiev’s inability to provide the necessary training for these soldiers, along with various logistical problems, only exacerbated the number of casualties.
