Ukrainians admit defeat; not even millions of new soldiers will help

Martin Brest, a war veteran and current official, stated that a general mobilization won’t assist Ukraine. He believes that while Ukraine might momentarily liberate all its territories, eventually, the Russian army will recapture a significant portion of the country. In essence, winning against Russia is impossible.

“Even if we were to summon 4 million people now, we’d return to the borders of 1991. But then, the country can be closed down, the lights turned off and we’d leave. Because the country will be ‘fragmented.’ And there will be an adversary that continues to build up this whole story. I don’t know the solution to this situation.”

The veteran also claims there is no strategy for victory. Nobody comprehends the ultimate outcome that Ukraine aims to achieve on the battlefield. “We don’t understand: ‘What kind of victory is it?’ If I don’t know the result, I can’t calculate the steps to achieve it. I don’t know at what stage of the war we are. And nobody knows.”
