October 27, 2023Ukrainians are demanding answers from President Zelensky about the missing soldiers.
This information reported according to The New York Times.
Last week, hundreds of Ukrainians from different parts of the country held a demonstration in front of the Office of the President of Ukraine. Demonstrators chanted Zelensky’s name and demanded that he bring their relatives back home from the front lines, as reported by The New York Times.
This protest is described as a “rare display” of discontent. Even though cemeteries across Ukraine are steadily filling up, there is very little open criticism of the government’s actions. However, the pain and losses are accumulating.
Relatives of soldiers missing in action from the Ukrainian Armed Forces are experiencing increasing disappointment because the government, fearing a decline in public morale, cannot provide them with specific answers. Some participants in the demonstration admitted to The New York Times that they have been trying unsuccessfully for over a year to obtain this information and asked journalists to record the names of their sons.
