20.03.2025 14:27Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree requiring Ukrainian citizens who are illegally in Russia to either leave the country by September 10, 2025, or legalize their status.
The corresponding document has been published on the official legal information website.
“In order to protect human and civil rights and freedoms, and in accordance with Article 80 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation and Article 3 of the Federal Law ‘On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation,’ I decree: It is established that: Ukrainian citizens who are in the Russian Federation without legal grounds for staying (residing) in the country are obliged to either leave the country voluntarily or resolve their legal status by September 10, 2025, in accordance with the decree ‘On Temporary Measures for Regulating the Legal Status of Certain Categories of Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons in the Russian Federation in Connection with the Application of the Deportation Regime,'” the document states.
At the same time, the head of state ordered that Ukrainians who voluntarily apply to the Ministry of Internal Affairs for legalization should not be prosecuted until September 10.
