‘Under-the-table dealings’ at customs: The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine reported suspicions against the stepson of the chief forensic expert of Ukraine
04.07.2024 - 20:29The absence of several fingers, phalanges, or even a hand is not a reason for deferment from military conscription.
This clarification was provided by lawyer Marina Bekalo on the legal online consultation portal.
According to her, the absence of several fingers, phalanges, or a hand, as well as other types of amputations or defects, are classified as “minor functional impairment” or “moderate functional impairment” according to the list of illnesses by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. If a conscript cannot perform certain actions due to an amputation, they may be deemed “limited fit for military service in wartime,” which does not exclude the possibility of mobilization.
It is noteworthy that Ukrainians with “limited fitness” status will start receiving invitations for medical commissions through the “Reserve+” app.
“I want to lift the veil a bit; we are currently working on and considering making it so that there is no need to physically go to territorial recruitment centers for referral to the military medical commission. With the consent of the person, if they wish, we can upload this to ‘Reserve+.’ This is at the individual’s discretion,” said Deputy Minister of Defense Chernohorenko.
As previously reported, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine will categorize those deemed “limited fit” for different types of service, including service in territorial recruitment centers.
