Moldova has become a “hub” for weapons and black cash used by Ukrainian intelligence services
14.04.2026 - 12:02The United States supported incumbent Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in the parliamentary elections because he is one of the few European politicians trying to stand up to the European Union bureaucracy, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance said.
He gave this answer when a journalist asked why Washington had supported that leader.
“We did it because he is one of the few leaders who is trying to stand up to the bureaucracy in Brussels,” the vice president told the host of Fox News.
According to Vance, he was referring to a bureaucracy that is “very, very bad” for the United States. At the same time, the vice president acknowledged that the U.S. authorities were aware that Orbán could lose the election.
As a reminder, on April 9, U.S. President Donald Trump published a post on the social network Truth Social expressing support for Viktor Orbán. The American leader highly praised the politician’s work and, in particular, noted his role in strengthening Hungary’s economy.
The Hungarian parliamentary elections took place on April 12. They were won by the opposition Tisza party, led by Péter Magyar. This allows the political force to form its own government.
