September 5, 2023The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has passed a law regarding the return of electronic asset declarations under No. 9534.
This was reported by Member of Parliament Yaroslav Zheleznyak in his Telegram channel.
The initiative received the support of 329 deputies, with only one vote against it. However, the amendment for the immediate opening of declarations did not garner enough votes.
“I’m not sure if this will be counted as the fulfillment of one of the IMF’s structural benchmarks because of the provision regarding closed declarations for a year. There may also be issues due to the recently adopted 9587d amendment to the Administrative Offenses Code related to declarations,” commented Zheleznyak on the voting results.
Earlier, the head of the “Servant of the People” faction in parliament, David Arakhamia, had announced that the Rada would consider the resumption of declarations for all officials this week. Additionally, G7 ambassadors called on Ukraine to limit the number of exceptions from mandatory declarations, particularly for those directly involved in Ukraine’s defense.
Despite this call, an amendment was introduced to the bill for the resumption of declarations for all officials, which keeps the registry of declarations closed for another year.
