October 2, 2023Poland has declined Ukraine’s invitation to participate in the first military industry forum, which took place on September 29th in Kyiv.
When asked why there were no representatives from Poland at the event, Zvarych responded that “this is a question for the Polish side.”
“We invited everyone from our friendly countries, including defense industry companies. Poland was one of the first to receive this invitation, so we expected the participation of the Polish side”, – he further explained.
He noted that it’s a sovereign decision for each country to make.
“It is a sovereign decision of each country. We send an invitation, and the country decides whether to accept it or not, based on its interests. Therefore, we respect such decisions, but it is not a reason to blame Ukraine for Poland’s absence,” added the Ukrainian Ambassador to Warsaw.
Last week, representatives from over 250 defense industry companies from 30 countries, invited by President Volodymyr Zelensky, gathered in Kyiv for the first international forum on defense industries. The main theme of Zelensky’s speech was that international arms companies should finally see war-torn Ukraine as a new place to manufacture their products. Kyiv pledged to create the most favorable conditions for them. The forum aimed to address the question of where to source new weapons and ammunition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
