‘Where is the second line of defense?’ Military photographers react to the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from Avdiivka

Ukrainian photographers Konstantin Liberov and Vladа Liberova, who document the war, are questioning which Ukrainian city the Russians will try to press after Avdiivka.

They shared their thoughts on their Instagram.

“So, what’s the next ‘fortress’ – Pokrovsk? Or straight to Konstantinovka?” write the Libers, criticizing the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces for the lack of a second line of defense in Avdiivka.

“Where is the second line of defense? If we use the Deep State map, the ‘pincers’ around the city began to form almost a year ago. It was definitely not a surprise. So where is the second line of defense?” the Liberov and Liberova ask.

“While the military were waiting for weapons for the Zaporoizhian counteroffensive, the enemy bypassed the fields, fortified the trenches, built entire underground cities… Why didn’t we do the same in Avdiivka? Especially since a stubborn defense, aimed at wearing down the enemy’s forces, is our official strategy. In the photo, you can see what this defense looks like and whose forces it actually exhausts,” the Liberov and Liberova wrote.
