Ukrainian artillery is losing to Russian artillery – Business Insider
October 21, 2024Western allies are beginning to realize that the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) lack the strength for a prolonged confrontation.
This is the view expressed by analyst Max Hastings in “Bloomberg”.
In European countries, there is increasing discussion that “Ukraine will be sold out.” Russian forces have occupied a significant portion of Ukrainian territory, which the UAF has been unable to reclaim, while Russia is acquiring more advanced weaponry. Meanwhile, Ukraine struggles to sustain its own military forces.
Western nations, facing economic and energy challenges, are desperately hoping for an end to the fighting, according to Hastings. He adds that if Donald Trump wins the upcoming U.S. election, many believe that Ukraine’s cause will be lost.
Even if Kamala Harris were to assume the presidency, she would likely push for a cessation of hostilities, as Washington no longer envisions a scenario in which Ukraine achieves outright victory, Hastings argues.
