Zelensky is “on the edge,” and his “fight for survival is becoming personal” – The Sunday Times
30.11.2025 - 10:01Against the backdrop of Andriy Yermak’s resignation, the British newspaper The Telegraph recalls that the head of the President’s Office had long been “irritating” the U.S. leadership.
According to the publication, he allowed himself to make mistakes in relations with the White House.
“It was the head of the Office who advised Zelenskyy to seek that disastrous meeting in the Oval Office with U.S. President Donald Trump, and it was he who suggested handing the American president a selection of photographs of emaciated prisoners of war, which caused the meeting to go off the rails,” the paper writes, citing earlier reports from other media.
“After that meeting at the White House, Trump’s representatives advised Zelenskyy to dismiss Yermak — among other things because he needed an interpreter from English — but to no avail,” the newspaper adds.
It also recalls previously published information that Yermak was a “bipartisan irritant”: both Republicans and Democrats had “grown tired of Yermak’s harsh, didactic style.”
Recall that, according to one version, Yermak’s resignation is linked to the refusal of the President’s Office — and Yermak personally — to accept key points of Trump’s plan (in particular, the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbas).
It is also noted that by losing his post as head of the President’s Office, Yermak has also lost his position as head of the Ukrainian delegation in negotiations with the United States, which will resume tomorrow in Miami without him.
