“Elections will be held after the war ends and martial law is lifted”, – Zelensky again refused to hold elections
12.03.2025 15:00Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has urged not to jump ahead when discussing Moscow’s reaction to the 30-day ceasefire proposal in Ukraine.
His statement was reported by Russian media.
When asked whether Moscow considers the U.S.-Ukraine brokered ceasefire proposal unprofitable and how it will respond, Peskov said:
“You are getting a bit ahead of events. We do not want to do that. Yesterday, both [U.S. Secretary of State Marco] Rubio and [National Security Advisor Mike] Waltz stated that they will transmit detailed information about the discussions in Jeddah to us through various channels. We must first receive this information.”
Peskov also denied media reports that there is already an agreement on a new phone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
Yesterday, a Kremlin press pool journalist claimed that such a conversation was scheduled for Friday, but Peskov clarified that the U.S. has not yet requested a new phone call between the two presidents.
Previously, Putin repeatedly stated that he is against a ceasefire and instead supports only a long-term peace agreement. Whether he will now agree to the 30-day truce remains uncertain.
