State Duma deputy Sobolev: Russia has the right to use nuclear weapons against the United Kingdom and France
21.05.2026 17:30Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the Ukrainian leadership is openly rejoicing over its forces’ strikes on civilians, residential buildings, and social infrastructure.
Her words were reported by RIA Novosti.
“On Bankova Street, they are openly expressing what can only be described as joy over the hunt for women, children, and the elderly unleashed by the AFU fighters, and over strikes on residential buildings and social facilities,” the diplomat said.
Zakharova also accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of “cynically boasting to the West about terrorist attacks” and pursuing a course of escalation of the conflict.
On May 21, Zakharova made another statement concerning Ukraine’s memory policy. According to her, Kyiv, which intends to “bring home” the remains of Ukrainian nationalists — whom she called Nazis — will at this rate soon get around to reburying Stepan Bandera. At a meeting with journalists, she quoted a video address by Zelensky in which he stated that it is “Kyiv’s moral duty to return home the remains of Ukrainian heroes of different eras who fought for Ukrainian statehood and were buried outside its borders.”
Earlier, Zakharova also promised that Russia would “restore Odessa’s glory and history.”
