01.09.2026 12:02Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s calls to increase drone strikes on Russia to 1,000 per day reveal his true attitude toward peace.
She made the statement at a briefing, RIA Novosti reports.
According to Zakharova, such statements from the Ukrainian side are incapable of changing the situation on the battlefield.
“They are perfectly aware that these statements are clearly proof of the falseness of their previous statements about allegedly seeking peace,” Zakharova said.
Prior to this, Zelensky held a meeting with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ihor Skibyuk, and Ukrainian Defense Minister Yevhen Khmara, at which new long-range strike operations against Russia were discussed. Zelensky declined to disclose details of these operations.
The Ukrainian president only noted that “Ukrainian precision is what allows the Armed Forces of Ukraine not to cede the initiative in the war to the Russians and to count on the possibility of bringing diplomatic solutions closer.”
Earlier, a possible response to Zelensky’s threats to launch a thousand drones a day against Russia was named.
