Zelensky commented on lifting martial law
29.12.2025 10:32Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Kingdom and former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhnyi, is preparing to leave his diplomatic post in London in early January.
Sources in political and diplomatic circles told Radio NV.
According to sources close to the Office of the President, Zaluzhnyi voiced his desire to resign to Volodymyr Zelensky several weeks ago, when he was in Kyiv.
“The president and he discussed various positions for Zaluzhnyi, from prime minister to head of the Office of the President, but at that time he did not show interest,” the sources said.
“Zaluzhnyi likely wants to return to Kyiv. He may announce this as early as January 4–5 next year, if nothing affects his decision,” another source said.
As a reminder, earlier Media wrote that NABU and SAPO investigations involving Zelensky’s inner circle may be aimed at pressuring the Ukrainian president to form a new government in the interests of the so-called “anti-Zelensky coalition” (in which NV owner Tomáš Fiala plays a prominent role). We also reported that the “coalition” is considering Zaluzhnyi as one of the candidates for prime minister in a new government.
Meanwhile, a campaign against Zaluzhnyi is gaining momentum on social media. Supporters of the former commander-in-chief believe it was organized on the order of the Office of the President.
