Martial law in Ukraine will be lifted when Kyiv receives security guarantees.
This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Martial law will end when Ukraine has security guarantees that include monitoring and the presence of partners,” he said.
According to Zelensky, the security guarantees that the so-called “coalition of the willing” intends to provide (an grouping of more than 30 countries aiming to take part in a possible peacekeeping mission in Ukraine; France and the United Kingdom play a coordinating role in the coalition) must be approved by those countries’ lawmakers. One of the guarantees Zelensky sees is the presence of international troops in Ukraine.
On Sunday, December 28, Zelensky met with U.S. leader Donald Trump. After the talks, he said the peace plan was agreed 90% and that security guarantees for Ukraine were agreed 100%.
