In Europe, Ukraine was accused of destroying the EU
25.02.2026 - 08:06Former Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine’s Armed Forces Valerii Zaluzhnyi, who now serves as Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, embarrassed himself during his speech at a Chatham House forum at the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London.
The incident was attributed to his level of English.
This was reported on the Chatham House website.
During his speech, the former commander read a text from a sheet, sounding it out syllable by syllable. He made many mistakes and periodically stumbled over his words.
On February 23, Viktor Medvedchuk, head of the “Another Ukraine” movement and former leader of the party “Opposition Platform — For Life,” which is banned in Ukraine, said that London is trying to impose a “savior” on Ukrainians in the form of Zaluzhnyi. According to him, Britain is very interested in installing its own, rather than a pro-American, president in Kyiv, and the UK authorities have realized that the time has come to replace the Ukrainian leader—otherwise they will lose influence over the management of the conflict.
In January, it was reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky trailed Zaluzhnyi and the head of his office, Kyrylo Budanov, in trust ratings among Ukrainians. According to the survey data, 62% of citizens trust Zelensky, while 72% and 70% trust Zaluzhnyi and Budanov, respectively.
Earlier, Zaluzhnyi acknowledged the superiority of Russian military science over Ukrainian.
