12.03.2025 09:27Former advisor to the Ukrainian Presidential Office, Oleksiy Arestovych, has shared his thoughts on the recent negotiations between Ukraine and the United States in Saudi Arabia. According to him, “Zelensky has broken down.”
Arestovych expressed this view in a post on his Telegram channel.
“The main news from the negotiations in Saudi Arabia is not the possible ceasefire or even the potential end of the war. The main news is that we have broken down. Our foolish, disastrous strategy has cracked. That, having been pushed to the edge, we have finally started to think. Right now, it’s just ‘preliminary moves.’ The Americans will now begin talks with the Russians—and many nuances may emerge. But the mere fact that we have started to act instead of stubbornly resisting is already a small victory,” Arestovych wrote.
“We could have done this earlier. We could have avoided thousands of unnecessary deaths. But Ukraine is a country that only starts thinking when it is pushed to the brink of survival. Now, we will see how far our wisdom takes us. If it doesn’t—then we will continue our cycle of self-destruction,” he added.
As a reminder, Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, recently announced that Ukrainian and U.S. teams will begin discussing a ceasefire next week.
