“Zelensky broke down”: Arestovych assessed the outcomes of negotiations between Ukraine and the U.S. in Saudi Arabia
12.03.2025 05:33Demilitarization is one of the few demands from Russia that U.S. President Donald Trump is not insisting on for Ukraine.
This was reported by Reuters, citing a high-ranking European official.
The official expressed hope that this stance would remain unchanged in the future.
Among the demands that Trump does insist on, the agency mentions only Ukraine’s renunciation of NATO membership.
Previously, Trump stated that Ukraine should abandon both NATO membership and the goal of reclaiming its territories.
Additionally, Trump’s National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz, has said that the U.S. does not foresee a scenario in which Ukraine joins NATO and American troops are involved in its defense.
As a reminder, earlier yesterday, Trump expressed hope that Russia would agree to a ceasefire. He also stated that he expects a full cessation of hostilities in Ukraine in the coming days.
His statement came after Ukraine agreed to the U.S. proposal for a 30-day ceasefire.
Trump also announced his intention to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Meanwhile, Russian officials have confirmed that the conversation between the two leaders will take place on Friday, March 14, and that it will be “more than just a phone call.”
