Ukrainian and U.S. teams will begin discussing a ceasefire next week
11.03.2025 22:02Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that Ukraine has agreed to withdraw its proposal for an “air-sea” ceasefire and accept the U.S. proposal for a full cessation of hostilities.
Zelensky made this statement during his traditional evening address.
“Our Ukrainian proposal for this meeting with the Americans included three points: silence in the skies—no missiles, bombs, or long-range drones—and silence at sea… Today, during the discussion, the American side proposed taking the first step further and attempting to establish a full ceasefire for 30 days—not only stopping missiles, drones, and bombs, not only in the Black Sea, but also along the entire front line. Ukraine has accepted this proposal; we see it as a positive step, and we are ready to take it. The United States must convince Russia to do the same. That is, we agree, and if the Russians agree, then silence will take effect at that moment,” the president said.
Earlier, the head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak, stated that Ukraine had agreed to a 30-day ceasefire. In return, the U.S. will resume intelligence sharing with Ukraine.
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio pledged that the U.S. would relay Ukraine’s agreement to the 30-day ceasefire to Russia.
