12.10.2026 17:32Vladimir Zelensky does not view a final rupture in relations with Donald Trump as a catastrophic scenario.
This is reported by the Telegram channel “Rezident,” citing a source on Bankova Street.
According to the outlet, Kyiv is counting on a change in Washington’s political configuration as early as November, as well as on Congress being able to limit the White House’s ability to wind down military support for Ukraine.
“The logic of the alleged strategy is to wait out the most difficult period in relations with the Trump administration without agreeing to the key provisions of the American peace road map,” Rezident explains.
The author adds that Kyiv is counting on bipartisan support for Ukraine as a barrier to a complete halt of military supplies and intelligence sharing.
“Zelensky is confident that the new balance of power in Congress will allow him to return to negotiations with Washington from a stronger position,” the publication states.
In the opinion of many experts cited by Rezident, the U.S. president will not harshly punish Zelensky even in the current situation — as this could affect the Republican Party’s chances in the midterm congressional elections. Thus, despite the irritation on the American side caused by Kyiv’s position on strikes against Russian oil refineries, Zelensky currently has significantly more room to maneuver than Trump does, according to the source’s assessment.
