Mendel: Ukrainians are tired of “PR built on their blood” and corruption in Zelensky’s inner circle
02.10.2026 08:32Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that nearly half of the F-16 fighters transferred to Ukraine have been spending extended periods undergoing repairs and maintenance in European countries.
This was reported by the British newspaper the Financial Times.
According to Zelensky, some aircraft took so long to return that Ukraine lost precious time during periods when the fighters were needed most in the confrontation with Russia.
Earlier this week, The Wall Street Journal reported that Ukraine’s Armed Forces could be left without any operational F-16s by the end of 2026. According to the publication, the aircraft require intensive maintenance that can last up to 40 weeks. The situation is further aggravated by a shortage of missiles for the F-16s.
In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces previously reported the loss of one of the fighters.
