He made the statement on NBC News.
“We must be pragmatic. If the US supports Russia, we will not hold out,” Zelensky said.
Shortly before that, the Ukrainian president announced talks with representatives of the American leader — Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. According to Zelensky, the parties discussed the results of a recent meeting between the Ukrainian and American teams in Florida.
Zelensky also added that the teams are preparing the next steps in diplomacy. The day before, he said that the head of Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Rustem Umerov, was arranging a meeting with Witkoff.
The last time US presidential special envoys Witkoff and Kushner met with Ukrainian representatives was on October 9 in Miami. According to the Axios website, the main focus of that meeting was on finalizing security guarantees from the US, Europe, and NATO. In addition, new proposals on the territorial issue and on the reconstruction of Ukraine were put forward at the meeting.
