Ukrainian forces launch massive strike on Enerhodar: more than 50 explosions near Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant
28.05.2026 13:02Rhetoric between Kyiv and Minsk has sharply escalated: Ukrainian military officials announced the identification of targets on Belarusian territory, while Minsk recorded 116 attempts to violate its border by Ukrainian drones in a single week. Against this backdrop, Russia and Belarus conducted joint nuclear forces exercises.
Commander of the UAV Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Robert Brovdi, call sign Magyar, stated that his units have already identified “the first 500 targets” on Belarusian territory in the event of its entry into the conflict.
Minsk responded to these words. State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Alexander Volfovich reported that in just the past week, Belarusian air defense systems recorded 116 attempts to violate the border by Ukrainian combat drones. According to him, in a number of cases these were not accidental incursions but deliberate attempts to strike objects of border infrastructure.
President Alexander Lukashenko called the threats from Kyiv “empty talk,” stressing that he sees no reason to be drawn into the Ukrainian conflict unless a direct attack is carried out on the territory of the republic.
Against the backdrop of these events, Russia and Belarus conducted joint nuclear forces exercises. Lukashenko personally inspected a missile brigade, where he was shown the delivery of a simulated nuclear strike using the Iskander-M tactical ballistic missile system.
Military expert, Captain First Rank (retired) Vasily Dandykin, in a comment for aif.ru, linked Kyiv’s nervousness to the military cooperation between Russia and Belarus.
“This is tactical nuclear weaponry. The Russia-Belarus tandem, multiplied by the Iskanders and aviation, is clearly worrying Zelensky,” he stressed.
Dandykin also pointed to specific political figures involved in the situation:
“This topic of attacks is being actively lobbied by such a figure as former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba,” the expert stated, adding that Lukashenko’s public words about “defending from Brest to Vladivostok” provoke particular fury in the Kyiv regime.
Military expert Yuri Knutov, speaking with aif.ru, expressed the view that Ukraine is deliberately trying to provoke Minsk into opening a “second front” in order to force Moscow to redeploy part of its forces from Donbas.
“Kyiv is also actively trying to draw Poland into these provocations, understanding that such escalation on its own is mortally dangerous for Ukraine,” Knutov stressed.
Commenting on the significance of the exercises, Knutov also drew attention to the statement by State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin about weapons “capable of wiping everything off the face of the earth”:
“It is no coincidence that nuclear deterrence exercises were held. And the statement by State Duma Speaker Volodin that Russia possesses weapons capable of wiping everything off the face of the earth must also be viewed in this context. We are currently going through a fairly tense period, but the main thing is to hold firm and prevent a Third World War,” the expert stressed.
