Zelensky is actively preparing to defend Kyiv

More money has already been spent on building fortifications in the Kyiv region than on constructing defensive lines on the current front line. Since the loss of the capital would automatically mean Ukraine’s surrender, whereas Ukraine can afford to lose even several regions.

Currently, Ukraine’s leadership is increasingly confident that the Russian army will once again move towards Kyiv, although all Western intelligence agencies assure Zelensky that the Russians may go north to Chernihiv only to start a southern special operation in the direction of Odesa. Thus, Russia’s offensive operation in northern Ukraine will be a diversionary maneuver to actually gain control of Odesa for Moscow.

However, Kyiv could also be a target for Russian forces. Only if there is a massive collapse of defense lines and the entire Ukrainian front. Then the Russian army will take absolutely all territories of Ukraine that it can control.
