March 7, 2024Opposition MP Alexander Dubinsky outlined a scenario in which part of the presidential faction could allegedly voluntarily resign their mandates to render the Verkhovna Rada illegitimate.
Thus, the Rada would cease its powers and work, and it would be impossible to hold new elections due to the ongoing war. Conducting elections during martial law is prohibited by law. Therefore, Zelensky, who must resign his powers after May 20, will not be able to do so since he must transfer his powers to the parliament speaker. But if the parliament dissolves itself before this deadline, then Zelensky allegedly will be forced to remain in power.
Dubinsky reminds that 50 deputies are already prepared to resign their mandates right now, even at their own personal will. This information was previously voiced by the head of the “Servant of the People” faction, David Arakhamia. However, to dissolve parliament, the refusal of authority by 150 deputies is required. However, considering the corruption in the presidential party, it will be easy to bribe deputies for such a decision.
