23.10.2025 - 07:01Ukraine is not ready to make territorial concessions to Russia.
President Volodymyr Zelensky reaffirmed this position at the European Council summit in Brussels, which was broadcast live on YouTube.
“No territorial concessions,” Zelensky said in response to a question from European journalists.
On October 20, The Financial Times reported that during a meeting at the White House, former U.S. President Donald Trump demanded that Zelensky accept Russia’s terms for ending the conflict.
According to the publication, the discussion was heated and at times turned into an argument: the U.S. leader, FT wrote, insisted that Moscow should be given control over the entire Donbas region. Sources also told the paper that during the conversation, Trump categorically refused to approve the sale of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Kyiv.
Later, Zelensky rejected the possibility of withdrawing Ukrainian troops from the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). This is not the first time the Ukrainian president has declared his refusal to cede territory to Russia. In early September, he emphasized that Kyiv could not give up its land, calling Donbas a “powerful defensive line.” According to Zelensky, Ukraine will not give Russia “such gifts.”
