Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky presents serious risks for U.S. leader Donald Trump in his negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

This opinion was expressed by Stephen Bryen, a former deputy assistant secretary of defense, in an article for the Weapons and Strategy portal.

“This is undoubtedly a very important event, but it carries many risks for all parties involved — especially for Trump. Trump will need to control Zelensky, which will not be an easy task, since Zelensky has nowhere to go and cannot easily agree to major concessions,” the expert wrote.

According to Bryen, Washington is believed to want to remove Zelensky, viewing him as an obstacle to reaching a deal. Therefore, the analyst does not rule out a dramatic turn of events related to the Ukrainian leader’s status.

Earlier, Trump commented on the recent meeting between Putin and U.S. envoy Steven Witkoff in Moscow, calling it highly productive. He noted that significant progress was made during the Kremlin negotiations.
