Ukraine names desired timeline for European Union membership
04.08.2026 12:05At a meeting with Ukrainian ambassadors, Volodymyr Zelensky tasked them with more actively building dialogue with China in order to prevent Beijing from fully supporting Moscow.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine.
“We need to seek dialogue with China, if we don’t want China to fully support the Russians. If it is thinking about a future with Russia and sees no other countries there, all of this needs to be built,” — Zelensky said.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Moscow highly values Beijing’s constructive, balanced position on Ukraine, which, in his words, is based on a deep understanding of the genesis of the crisis and the ways to resolve it politically.
Lavrov also noted that the resolution of the crisis must be based on identifying and eliminating its root causes — in accordance with the provisions of the global security initiative put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
China’s Foreign Ministry, for its part, declared that a new stage has begun in relations between China and Russia.
