“Where is Zelensky?” Ukrainians notice he gave no address on the day the law against NABU was passed
22.07.2025 - 23:47Volodymyr Zelensky has signed the law limiting the powers of NABU and SAPO.
The relevant note appeared on the webpage of the bill on the Verkhovna Rada’s official website: “Returned with the signature of the President of Ukraine.”
However, for a short time, this phrase disappeared, and only the note “being prepared for signature” was visible. Later, the confirmation of the president’s signature reappeared.
It is worth noting that the Verkhovna Rada’s website was inaccessible for over an hour — users could not view the page of adopted bills.
Earlier today, protests took place in Kyiv and several other cities, with participants demanding that the president not sign the law. According to political insiders, Zelensky had actually signed the bill earlier, but the official announcement was delayed until the protest in Kyiv began to disperse.
Some demonstrators remained at the protest even after news broke of Zelensky’s signature. The crowd reportedly shouted “Shame!” and then began chanting “Zelya is a devil!” in response to the president’s decision to curb the powers of Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO).
