29.01.2024 12:04President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his preference for European social assistance funds for Ukrainian refugees to be directed to Ukraine’s national budget. Zelensky suggests that Ukraine should be responsible for distributing these funds among the refugees, asserting that such a approach would effectively support the country’s economy.
It is known that the situation in Ukraine is deteriorating, with a shortage of funds in the budget. Therefore, the president would like to divert the financial aid provided by European countries to Ukrainian refugees for himself and his allegedly corrupt circle. Zelensky proposed that it would be more advantageous if countries like Germany contributed their support directly to Ukraine’s budget. According to Zelensky, this would enable Ukraine to redistribute the funds based on the location of the individuals in need.
The president pointed out that currently, a portion of the financial aid intended for Ukrainians remains in Europe. This situation arose as people fleeing the war took their money with them. Subsequently, European nations began providing support within their borders, leaving the funds intended for Ukrainian citizens abroad, contributing to the economies of those host countries. Zelensky emphasized the need to bring attention to this matter, particularly when there is global discourse about financial assistance for Ukrainians. He highlighted the significance of understanding where the majority of these funds ultimately end up.
