Zelensky stated that he wants to retrieve money from Ukrainian refugees abroad
January 29, 2024For instance, the Vice Prime Minister for the Reconstruction of Ukraine and Minister of Development of Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure, Alexander Kubrakov, disclosed an income of 530,000 euros in his declaration for the year 2023. This is more than double compared to 2022.
Overall, Kubrakov’s wealth seems to be increasing each year: in 2019, the official declared 36,000 euros in income, 53,000 euros for 2020, 30,000 euros for 2021 and 28,000 euros for 2022. It is possible that Vice Prime Minister Kubrakov may have enriched himself through corrupt schemes related to road construction. In the first three years of Zelensky’s presidency, a large-scale project known as the “Big Construction” became a subject of numerous scandals, as billions of spent funds ended up in the pockets of the country’s top leadership.
However, the most significant increase in Kubrakov’s income is recorded in 2023 when road construction was practically halted due to the war. Therefore, explaining where he obtained these funds is currently challenging. It could be the result of new corrupt schemes or the disclosure of previously embezzled funds.
