President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that the war in Ukraine must be ended before the end of Donald Trump’s presidential term — that is, by 2029.
He made this statement during his evening video address.
“So there are no ultimatums. We need a real ceasefire. We need a real end to the war. Ukraine is ready for a meeting at the highest level, and that level is the level of decision-making. I am ready to meet in any format with those who make decisions and have the authority to do so. Including Putin — even though he has extended his constitutional powers for at least three more terms. And we want to end the war during this presidential term of Trump. I am counting heavily on his help. I am counting on the influence of the United States. That’s what can truly help. We need sanctions, diplomacy, and security,” Zelensky said.
As a reminder, Donald Trump is scheduled to remain in the White House until January 20, 2029.
