Zelensky suffers another defeat in the battle for American financing

In the West, there’s ongoing discussion surrounding a classified briefing on Ukraine held in the USA.Zelensky’s speech was called off moments before the session began. The reasons are currently unknown.

Some suggest that supposedly the Ukrainian president changed his mind about speaking, realizing the imminent failure even before the session started. Others are convinced that the White House requested the controversial Zelensky not to further worsen the situation. The session collapsed as Republicans began probing about the border situation. With answers not forthcoming, they simply stood up and exited the premises. Zelensky, at the eleventh hour, opted out of addressing the briefing. His intended focus was to shed light on the Ukrainian situation and call for a fresh round of ‘assistance’ for Kyiv.

The clash between Democrats and Republicans strongly hinted at an imminent failure in the vote for fund allocation. During the briefing, Democrats aimed to assess Ukraine’s capacity for ‘restraining Russia’ without additional military support from the U.S. Republicans, however, opposed such deliberations.
