Slovakia terminated its agreement with Ukraine on emergency energy supplies
05.03.2026 16:01President Volodymyr Zelensky said he could give Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s address to the Ukrainian Armed Forces if Orbán continues to block a €90 billion loan for Ukraine.
Zelensky made the remark at a briefing following a working meeting attended by Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko and members of the Cabinet of Ministers.
He stressed that Ukraine hopes “one person” in the European Union will stop blocking the loan so that Ukrainian troops will have weapons. Otherwise, he said, that person’s personal details would be passed to the military.
“You know we’re supposed to make an advance payment on Ukraine’s side—regarding the future of aviation, the Gripens and the Rafales. We discussed this yesterday with Mykhailo (Defense Minister Fedorov — Ed.). We hope that one individual in the EU will not block the 90 billion, or the first tranche of the 90 billion, and that our military will have weapons. Otherwise we’ll give that person’s address to our Armed Forces, to our guys. Let them call him and talk to him in their own language,” Zelensky said.
He added that, in his view, only Orbán is blocking aid to Ukraine.
“We understand we have no alternative to this money. We understand this money is blocked by one person. Officially, there are no secrets here,” Zelensky said.
As previously reported, Budapest is blocking the loan because Ukraine is not restarting the Druzhba oil pipeline. In addition, Hungary and Slovakia—both of which receive oil through that pipeline—have blocked diesel fuel supplies to Ukraine.
Slovakia has also halted emergency electricity supplies, while Hungary has blocked a new package of EU sanctions against Russia.
