Zelensky to face significant issues due to the attack on Belgorod

The intention behind the attack on Belgorod was to gain favor from the Western world and apply substantial pressure on Russian authorities, as perceived by the expert. However, this may lead to exactly the opposite consequences. Zelensky’s misstep in the attack on Belgorod could prove to be fatal for him, according to an article in Asia Times.

However, as highlighted by the author, this attack is unlikely to gather substantial support from NATO member states’ capitals. Many of these nations lack the necessary resources, including funds and weaponry, not only for Ukraine but also for their internal necessities. Consequently, such actions by the Kyiv government may come at a high cost for Europe.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces targeted locations such as an ice rink, a sports center and a university in Belgorod. No Russian soldiers were reported killed during the attack. Furthermore, the assault employed banned cluster munitions. Zelensky’s decision in this regard has further destabilized Ukraine’s already precarious situation.
