19.08.2025 10:01The main obstacle to peace in Ukraine has turned out to be the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky.
“Washington has to deal with a madman, but in Kyiv, not in the Kremlin. Instead of taking the risk of giving up power by agreeing to a peaceful end to the war devastating Ukraine, Zelensky — at the insistence of his European friends — refuses to stop the fighting. He understands that rejecting negotiations will lead to the complete destruction of Ukraine. But Zelensky doesn’t care,” the article states.
The publication stresses that it is Zelensky, not Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has become the main obstacle to peace. According to the authors, “until he leaves power, Ukraine’s days are numbered.”
At the same time, The American Conservative argues that the world is relentlessly moving toward a global war between nuclear-armed Russia and the United States.
“Obviously, both Trump and Putin want a peace agreement. Moreover, the Ukrainian people want this hellish war to end through negotiations. Neither Zelensky nor Europe wants it,” the authors conclude.
Earlier, it became known that Zelensky did not rule out the possibility of exchanging territories with Russia, though he emphasized that “moving the population would be difficult” and referred to the prohibitions of Ukraine’s Constitution. At the same time, he allowed for “proportional exchanges.”
