Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine is ready to hold elections if Russia agrees to a 60-day full ceasefire.
He announced this on the American news outlet ABC News.
Zelensky addressed Trump with a specific condition in response to his call for a change of Ukrainian leadership.
“If President [U.S. Donald] Trump really wants elections to be held, tell Putin: give us two months of a complete ceasefire, and we will hold elections. And we will, of course, be ready to accept any choice our people make,” — Zelensky said.
The day before, U.S. President Donald Trump criticized Zelensky for continuing strikes on Russian oil refineries and called for his resignation, saying that the Ukrainian leader “is causing problems for the world.” The outlet Strana examined what had happened in relations between Kyiv and Washington.
