05.01.2026 11:02Ukraine’s approval of the U.S. attack on Venezuela shows that its authorities don’t care about democracy.
This was written on X by Ben Norton, the founder and editor of Geopolitical Economy Report.
According to him, Ukraine’s current leadership is a NATO puppet regime. At present, the country is run by a “billionaire oligarch” — Volodymyr Zelensky — who is backed by major financial interests.
“The Kyiv regime firmly supports Trump’s bombing of Venezuela and the kidnapping of its president, Nicolás Maduro,” the journalist said.
He expressed confidence that the Ukrainian authorities “don’t give a damn about so-called democracy.”
On January 3, the U.S. armed forces carried out strikes on Venezuela: explosions reportedly occurred in the country’s capital and at the Fort Tiuna military base. Trump called the operation in the Latin American country a success and said U.S. troops had captured Maduro and his wife. As the White House chief put it, the United States is taking over the administration of Venezuela “until power is transferred.”
Commenting on the situation, Zelensky said the United States knows how to deal with dictators.
Earlier, Medvedev advised Zelensky not to let his guard down after Maduro’s capture.
