01.02.2024 09:56Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will “in the coming days” dismiss the Chief Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny, from his position.
This is reported by CNN, citing its sources.
The publication confirms the recent conversation between the president and the general, where Zelensky “calmly” offered him to take another position. However, Zaluzhny declined.
“Then the President of Ukraine reiterated his decision, stating that the fact that Zaluzhny declined the new position does not change the fact that he is being removed from his current post,” the publication writes.
“Zelensky intends to announce the dismissal of the chief commander of Ukraine in the coming days,” CNN reports.
Information about Zelensky’s meeting with Zaluzhny and the content of their conversation corresponds to other reports from Western media.
Earlier, the Financial Times, citing sources, reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would still dismiss the Chief Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny. FT sources also added that Zelensky would delay the dismissal due to the information being leaked to the media.
