The largest-ever protest against the TCC in Ukraine’s history took place in Vinnytsia
02.08.2025 - 22:15Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s decisions regarding the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) stem from his obsession with power and a loss of political instinct.
This was highlighted in a piece by the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ).
“[Volodymyr Zelensky] is increasingly focused on holding on to power (…). He has reached a dead end — and the whole country with him,” wrote columnist Ivo Mijnssen.
According to the journalist, the Ukrainian president appears indecisive, forced to maneuver between the expectations of foreign partners, civil society, and entrenched power structures. At the same time, Mijnssen argues, Zelensky has achieved little success.
Earlier, the British publication The Spectator called the reputational damage suffered by Zelensky over the NABU situation irreversible.
Zelensky was ultimately forced to sign a law restoring the powers and independence of the agency — despite the fact that just nine days earlier, that very body had been effectively dismantled.
