$10,000 to become a master’s student and get a deferment from mobilization — a university department head in Kharkiv was caught taking a bribe

The head of a department at a Kharkiv university demanded $10,000 for admission to a master’s program and a deferral from mobilization.

This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.

According to the police, the department head promised to facilitate seamless admission to the university’s master’s program in exchange for a financial reward.

The amount he requested roughly corresponds to the average sums charged for illegally crossing the border, which can range from $4,000 to $15,000.
