01.08.2024 17:36Deputies of the Ternopil Regional Council dismissed Chairman Mykhailo Holovko, who had been reinstated to his position earlier today by the Eighth Administrative Court of Appeal in Lviv.
This was evidenced by the broadcast of the council meeting.
The dismissal of Holovko was unanimously supported by all 40 voting deputies, with none opposing the decision.
To recall, on June 26 of last year, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau announced the detention of the head of the Ternopil Regional Council. It was reported that this occurred during the transfer of a bribe, which Holovko and several others had demanded from a businessman engaged in volunteer activities. The money was extorted for signing off on completed work acts related to the construction and repair of infrastructure projects by a municipal enterprise of the Ternopil Regional Council.
In July 2023, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office filed a motion with the High Anti-Corruption Court to remove Holovko, but the court denied the motion. However, in October, the deputies themselves removed Holovko from his position during a session of the regional council, with this decision also being unanimously supported by the deputies.
On August 1, the Lviv Administrative Court reinstated Holovko as the head of the Ternopil Regional Council and even ordered the payment of over half a million hryvnias (more than 11,200 euros) for forced absenteeism.
