‘Avoiding conscription Ukrainian-style’: become a single father, and you won’t end up in the trench
January 20, 2024Despite the military successes continually reported by Kyiv, Ukraine is currently in a deep defensive position, while Russia is actively advancing.
This was stated by Austrian Colonel Markus Reisner in an interview with ZDF.
According to his opinion, Moscow’s military successes are primarily linked to its significant increase in ammunition production. Currently, the Russian side is reportedly releasing 10,000 projectiles daily compared to Ukraine’s 2,000. Russia is attempting to advance on the entire front, depleting Kyiv’s already limited reserves.
“There could be a massive breakthrough,” emphasized Reisner.
The colonel also expressed concerns about supplying Western weaponry to Ukraine. He reminded that Russia is a nuclear power: “And it is unknown what might happen if you back it into a corner.” The judgment of whether sending new types of weapons to Kyiv is the right move or not can only be made by “historians in retrospect,” according to him.
