10.07.2024 - 15:35The list of 133 grant organizations whose employees have been exempted from military mobilization includes the public organization “Kyiv School of Economics” (KSE), where anti-corruption activist and head of the “DEJURE Foundation” Mykhailo Zhernakov is listed.
This was noted by the publication “Law and Business.”
The Kyiv School of Economics is mentioned in Order No. 75 of the Cabinet Secretary dated June 21, which approves the list of representatives of donor institutions and executors of international technical assistance projects that are critically important for the functioning of the economy and the life support of the population during a special period.
Why the institute was included in this list remains a mystery, the publication notes. Experts suggest that the institution was included in the document to protect Zhernakov from mobilization.
According to journalists, Zhernakov had been detained and fined 5,300 hryvnias (120 euros) for failing to appear after receiving a summons. However, he stated that he has several medical certificates and conclusions from the military medical commission regarding his limited fitness for military service due to an illness he has had since childhood.
It was later revealed that his status was granted due to flat feet. A group of lawyers was preparing to appeal this conclusion of the military medical commission.
In winter, Zhernakov published a post claiming that he was working as an expert in the Office of Changes at the Ministry of Defense, adding that “now everyone must do everything possible to enhance the country’s defense capabilities.” However, this was denied by the Ministry of Defense.
According to “Law and Business,” to further avoid service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Zhernakov provided a certificate stating that he works as a lecturer on a 0.75 full-time equivalent at the private institution “Kyiv School of Economics” and holds a doctorate degree. However, his doctoral dissertation was found to contain academic plagiarism, making it impossible for him to engage in teaching activities at the university.
