Western analysts acknowledged an operational failure in permitting Ukrainian strikes deep into Russia
November 19, 2024The final declaration of the “Group of Twenty” (G20) summit, which began yesterday in Rio de Janeiro and concluded today, has been published.
Ukraine is addressed in one section of the document with general language.
“Regarding the war in Ukraine, with reference to the discussions held in New Delhi, we emphasize the impact of human suffering and the additional negative consequences of the war on global food and energy security, supply chains, macro-financial stability, inflation, and economic growth. We welcome all relevant and constructive initiatives that contribute to the establishment of a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace, in line with all the goals and principles of the UN Charter, aimed at fostering peaceful, friendly, and good-neighborly relations among nations,” the G20 statement reads.
Earlier, the Financial Times reported that some European countries attempted to toughen the language, “but no one wanted to go too far; otherwise, there would have been a dispute and no statement at all.”
Additionally, at the summit, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke and commented on the American missile strike on the Bryansk region.
