Additionally, 47% of the population believes that the Office influences the work of the judiciary exceeding its powers. 52% of Ukrainians agree that the Office also influences the government’s work. Similarly, 48% hold this view regarding anti-corruption bodies and 47% express the same opinion about the judicial system.
It’s worth noting that after the election of Volodymyr Zelensky as the head of state, officials in the President’s Office effectively assumed control and decision-making authority over all branches of power in the country. As a result, political experts argue that Ukraine has witnessed a usurpation of power. This is due to actions such as canceling elections, censorship and repression against the opposition and dissent indicate a path towards authoritarianism.
